GREAT NEWS! NITRO! Magazine Nostalgia Drag Racing Series Nationals will be held at Willowbank Raceway, Queensland on Saturday and Sunday 14th & 15th August, 2010. YES – another big two day event!!! But don’t be late entering the event as competitor entry numbers are capped. You will need to complete the entry form and return it by fax or by post with the entry fee as soon as possible. Entries for everybody close at 5pm Friday 23rd July, 2010.
As we are all aware the Nostalgia Drags are getting bigger and better as they sweep across Australia, but the two day August Nationals is simply awesome. Last year we had nearly 250 entries and early entries this year are promising. As we grow we try to bring something new for the many spectators; in February we had the Nitro burning FEDs and for the August 2010 two day event we have laid the foundations for a return of the hay days of drag racing with the Wild Bunch State of Origin, and, I have to tell you the excitement is electric as we put the wheels in motion.
Original New South Wales captain, Ben Gatt, has dreamed of this and jumped at the chance of being part of this return of the Wild Bunch. Lindsay Churchill and John Babington from NSW and Garth McIntyre from Mackay, Qld have all said YES. These original members will take some young guns on board and make this a truly enjoyable experience for racers and spectators, an experience not to be missed with up to eight teams per side, sixteen blown cars in total.
We will also have some of the original Wild Bunch stars, who no longer race, at the event for a meet and greet. This is sure to be an extra highlight.
If you would like to race please download and complete an entry form and return it with the entry fee as soon as possible; the closing date for entries is the 11th February. Camping will be permitted on Friday night and Saturday night for credentialed competitors and team members only. Strict guidelines will be introduced for campers and must be adhered to. A lights out time, and a curfew on all vehicle and personnel movement will be enforced.
Clubs and individuals are invited to bring along their nostalgia street cars, bikes and hot rods to enjoy the day and to be a part of the informal ‘Pit Lane’ show’n’shine. To be a part of the show’n’shine just bring your cool ride along, only pay the normal general admission fee and ask to be parked in the designated area.
